ELLLO.org is an English Language Listening Lab Online that is provided with a collection of over 1.000 listening activities and lessons available in audio. Here, people can listen to English speakers from different countries with different accents having the option of getting real conversations about very common situations. That is why, ELLLO becomes a great complement for people who want to learn and practice English in an easy, interactive and free way. 

This website was made by Todd Beuckens, who is a full-time English teacher based in Japan, in his spare time. He has made an amazing job by creating this useful tool for people to improve their English skills.

Specific features

ELLLO has several categories of listening activities organized in specific listening levels making possible to find several lessons, each one with their respective activities and transcriptions. Learners can also profit from ELLLO's different complements, such as Interviews containing natural conversations, supported by images of the characters and of the subject matter, and their transcript, with various English speakers from all over the world.. These audio and video materials are designed for students of all levels who want to practice their skills or just to listen for enjoyment.

Users also find Listening Games where they use the audio to get an idea and then choose the picture as appropriate. Moreover the Mixer; which is a listening activity that shows six different speakers talking about the same topic, is really good because it is possible to compare the various responses and ideas that speakers have and how their pronunciation are in accordance to their accent.

Another great complement to learn English with ELLLO are songs with the lyrics displayed on screen as a karaoke where you can follow the stanzas at the same time that you listen to the songs. It’s a good way to improve pronunciation, grammar, reading, idioms and enjoy music.

ELLLO has also a mix of many tools that gives us the possibility to save and print all the lessons guides, download MP3 files and test the listening comprehension by mean of quizzes with easy questions to develop.

Advantages and limitations

You can enjoy ELLLO because is a free, easy to use and surf web site. All the lessons are written and recorded in English which means that people will not find any word in Spanish to make them get more familiar with the target language and have a real improvement of their communication skills. Besides all images, audio records, games, quizzes and texts have a good quality, they are useful and a pleasant way to study English.

ELLLO has not visual changes which means that there are not updates in this web site, but this would not be a big limitation because this web site is provided with over 1.000 different lessons.
